Fox Valley Legends Sr. Girls Volleyball Team excited accepted a request from their MLA, Mr. Doug Steele, to visit the Legislative Building in Regina. The team and parents were given a tour of the legislative building, greeted by Doug Steele, met with Premier Scott Moe and was given a tour of his office. The team was introduced in chambers and a short speech, by their MLA, gave recognition of their community’s support for school sport. It was a superb day filled with learning and new experiences.  Fox Valley School is just one example of the terrific support all of our SWAC schools get from their communities.  We thank everyone for believing in the value of School Sport.

The SWAC Junior and Senior Basketball Leagues have been sent out to participating schools. All teams will play at least six games before playoffs.  Junior girl teams include Shaunavon, Swift Current (Gr. 9), Wymark and Waldeck. The junior boys teams entered into the league are Shaunavon, Swift Current (Gr. 9), Maple Creek and Gull Lake.  Junior games are scheduled for Thursdays and the first games are on Dec. 13.

Our senior girl league has teams from Shaunavon, Swift Current (Jr. Ardens), Maple Creek, and Herbert.  Participating senior boy teams are Shaunavon, Gull Lake, Maple Creek, Frontier and Swift Current (Jr Colts).  Our SWAC senior league runs on Tuesday nights (with the odd Thursday game).  Their first action is on Dec.  11.

The SWAC Basketball official’s clinic was very well attended. We are excited to have our veteran officials returning to work without students, and we welcome all our new officials.

Maple Creek Comp is hosting a junior/senior school curling bonspiel on Dec. 8 (maybe the 7th depending on entries).  Eastend School is going to host an exhibition Gr. 9-12 “Doubles” Curling competition on Jan. 18-19.   Invitations have been sent to every SWAC school for both of these curling events.
