Good Luck to our SWAC provincial golf team... Madison Gleim (Eastend), Gaige Calkins (SCCHS), Kaden Gramlich (Fox Valley), Landon Laucher (Ponteix) and Rylan Egland (Eastend). They will be at the SHSAA Provincial competition in Estevan on this weekend (Sept. 27-28). You can follow their progress on the SHSAA website.

Our senior girls/boys SWAC volleyball league started this past week. League standings after the girls Tuesday night action:  Gull Lake and Shaunavon sit atop the standings with perfect 2-0 records, Vanguard and Frontier are at 1-1 in their matches. Hazlet and Eastend were winless in their first two matches. Host sites on Tuesday, Sept 24 are Eastend (Gull Lake/Vanguard) and Frontier (Shaunavon/Hazlet). The boys play their volleyball league on Wednesday nights. 

After the first week of games Cabri and Shaunavon are undefeated (2-0). Frontier and Vanguard are still looking for their first league win. On Wednesday, Sept 25, Frontier will host Vanguard.  Shaunavon will host Cabri. Check with your school for game times.

The SCCHS Colt soccer team took on Moose Jaw Peacock at home, in a make-up game, on Sept 17. The Colts won 6-1. On Saturday, they traveled back to Moose Jaw to take on the Peacocks and came away with a 5-2 win.  The Colts are now 5 and O on the season. Their final home game, before semi-finals, will be this Wednesday against MJ Central. 

Wednesday, Sept 18, the Ardens continued their winning ways with an 11-2 victory against the visiting Vanier team. The girls will put their undefeated season on the line at home vs. Moose Jaw Peacock on Tuesday, Sept 24. The Ardens will then head to Moose Jaw on Saturday for a double header against Central and Peacock.

The Herbert Laurels girl and boy soccer teams were at the Rosthern Treaty 6 soccer tournament on the weekend. The girls came away with a record of 2 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss. The boy’s team had a record of 3 wins and 1 loss.  The Herbert teams do not have a 7 vs 7 league, so all their competition experience comes from tournaments or exhibition games.

In a 9-man football game last Friday, Maple Creek traveled to Shaunavon for another game ‘under the lights’. The hometown Shadows won 13-7. Gull Lake (6-man football) hosted their first home game against the LCBI Bisons and came away with a 13-7 win. On Saturday, Sept. 21, the 12-man SCCHS Colts were in Yorkton for an afternoon game. The Colts had to take a 35-14 loss in that contest.

There are numerous games on Friday, Sept. 27th. Maple Creek Redmen will host Fort Qu’Appelle, while the Shaunavon Shadows will travel to Notre Dame.  Gull Lake will have another home contest against Central Butte. The Lions will be hosting their first football game ever ‘under the lights’. They have a lot of activities planned for the event…make sure to check it out. SCCHS Colts will be on the road, taking on Weyburn on Saturday, Sept 28th.

Our SWAC Cross Country championship (for grades 4-12) will take place on Saturday, October 5 on the Miry Golf Course at Cabri. Registration starts at 10:00, walk through at 11 a.m. Start time for the first race is approximately 12:00 noon.
