Herbert Street repairs

The City of Swift Current wishes to advise residents and motorists that Herbert Street West is closed from 1st Avenue Northwest to Central Avenue North.

The closure, which we anticipate will last approximately two weeks, is necessary to accommodate the transfer of Overhead Electrical Lines to underground infrastructure.

“This is part of an ongoing conversion project to move our existing overhead lines underground,” said Mitch Minken, General Manager of Infrastructure & Operations. “The overhead lines are located in the alleys in the downtown business area; however, we need to close the street – in this case, Herbert Street West – on that block to trench the lines under the roadway.”

There will be alley closures between Cheadle Street and Herbert Street periodically throughout the project which is expected to be ongoing for two months. Please follow all detours.
