The Swift Current SPCA's 3rd annual Pets in the Park dog walk on Sept. 9 raised around $5,000 for the local animal shelter with the support of local pet owners and various sponsors. The event, which started and ended in Riverside Park, took participants on a walk along a section of the Chinook Parkway. A total of 19 dogs were entered in the event. Dog owners qualified to participate in the walk by collecting at least $50 in pledges for the shelter. My Dog-licious Treats owner Margarita Ojeda exhibited her home-made dog cookies, which are made from fruits and vegetables with no preservatives. She donated treats for the doggy swag bags provided at the dog walk. Tara McKay of Kutz N Kisses Pet Grooming donated $105 from nail clips provided at the event to the Swift Current SPCA. She makes home visits to provide pet grooming services in the comfort of a pet's own home.
