Limited Market Square for Swift Current to start

Market Squares are extremely popular in Swift Current like this one from 2019.

The City of Swift Current, in partnership with the Swift Current & District Farmer’s Market Association, is pleased to announce that Market Square will be taking place beginning Saturday, June 12th, and will run every Saturday through September 25th from 9:30 AM to 2:30 p.m., rain or shine.

“With COVID-19 restrictions beginning to lift as more citizens are being vaccinated, the 2021 edition of Market Square will look and feel more like our pre-pandemic Markets,” said City of Swift Current CAO Tim Marcus. “We won’t be able to operate a full Market with all the bells and whistles right away, but we anticipate getting back to ‘business as usual’ over the course of the summer.”

Patrons can anticipate more vendors in 2021 than they saw in 2020, with vendor space permitted outside the main tent along 1st Avenue Northeast towards the Royal Canadian Legion. Food trucks and vending spaces are also permitted, although current Saskatchewan Health Guidelines indicate that food must be consumed off-site.

While live music is not currently permitted, the City will continue to monitor guidelines and reincorporate traditional Market Square activities as they are permitted.

Vendor space at the Market is still available, and an online application form can be accessed and submitted at http://www.swiftcurrent.ca/what-s-new/market-square/market-square-vendor-application-form. If vendors have any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to contact City Hall at 306.778.2723 or email admin@swiftcurrent.ca

Patrons are encouraged to follow the Market Square Facebook page for all the latest information about upcoming Market events.

If you’re interested in participating with the Swift Current & District Farmer’s Market Association, where you have to make it, bake it or grow it, please contact the Market Manager, Brenda Epp at 306-741-3941 or kbepp.farm@sasktel.net.
