Festival entries

In 2018, Swift Current & District Music Festival President Karen MacCallum received a bouquet of flowers from festival executive members Marcia McLean and Andrea Neustaeter in recognition of her long-time involvement with the festival. MacCallum has served on the festival executive for 25 years, including two terms as president, and she has also served 12 years on provincial level and four years on national level.

The Swift Current Music Festival reminds music teachers, parents and students that online registrations are now being accepted at www.scmusicfestival.ca.

The 90th Swift Current Music Festival is being prepared for upcoming dates in March and April, 2018. This is a competitive amateur festival for children of all ages and all disciplines: piano, voice, musical theatre, guitar, strings, school bands and ensembles, instrumental solos, choirs, classroom music and speech arts. Last year 276 entries involved 1400 students and over $6800 in scholarships were awarded. The generosity of individuals, local businesses and service clubs makes this festival possible. Students come from across the city and surrounding communities and we are grateful for this support. It demonstrates that our community understands how important music education and performance opportunities are to the children. A list of donors and sponsors’ advertising will be updated on the website. There is also a donor letter for your use if you have not already been contacted and would still like to contribute.

We would like to acknowledge our long-time partnerships with private music teachers, Chinook & Catholic School Divisions, the Art Gallery of Swift Current and all other venues that have been so readily available.

The online registration with direct payment and our own website has greatly improved and streamlined the whole system and it is far more cost effective. It improves our ability to schedule hundreds of entries in a much shorter period of time and makes information available to the public at any time. The specific dates for disciplines, venues, schedules, adjudicators, and much more will be updated as information becomes available on the website, www.scmusicfestival.ca.

Be sure to visit us there. There is a contact form if you have any questions.
