Vulcan RCMP investigate

Vulcan RCMP were on scene of a three vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. June 19, on Highway 23 just south of Vulcan.

Tragically three people are now deceased.

Preliminary investigation has revealed a truck with two occupants was travelling southbound on Highway 23 when it crossed the centre line and made contact with a northbound semi-tractor. The truck then collided with another truck that was following the semi-tractor.

Tragically, the 45-year-old male passenger of the southbound truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 22-year-old male driver was taken to a Calgary hospital via EMS and pronounced deceased a short time later. Both occupants were from Lethbridge.

The 64-year-old male driver of the northbound truck from Vulcan was pronounced deceased at scene. The semi-tractor driver was not injured.

Vulcan RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate and it is anticipated traffic will be re-routed for several more hours on Highway 23.

Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased at this time. The names of the deceased will not be released and no further updates are anticipated.
