Despite shooting 60 pucks at the opposition's net, the Brooks Bandits suffered their first loss in nearly four months as they dropped a 3-2 overtime heartbreaker in Game 3 in Canmore on Monday night.

The Bandits won 35 consecutive games heading into the match, and had only played in 3 overtimes all season, winning them all. With the loss, the Brooks lead in the Best of 7 South Division semifinal is now 2 games to 1. Eagles goaltender Thomas Davis made 58 saves in the win, while Bandits goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) made 23 saves.

For the first time in the playoffs, the Bandits surrendered the first goal. Forward Quinton Ong one-timed the puck from the left circle just 1:57 into the game on the powerplay.

Less than five minutes later, Bandits forward William Lemay (Marieville, QC) shot the puck from the left circle and tipped off a Canmore stick into the back of the Canmore net to tie it 1-1.

That score carried to the 2nd period, but just 32 seconds into the frame, Eagles forward Max Giangualano came out out of the penalty box and scored on a breakaway to reclaim the one-goal Eagle lead.

Brooks would get the equalizer with three minutes to play in the 2nd, as forward Nathan Plessis (Salmon Arm, BC) took an Andrew Lucas pass on the powerplay and scored five-hole on a breakaway to tie the game.

After a scoreless third period, the game went to overtime. In the dying seconds of a Brooks power play, Lucas was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after spraying snow at Davis as the whistle went. On the ensuing Canmore power play, forward Connor Lyons took a left-circle shot that Charleson stopped, but the rebound came to Ong, who ended the game midway through the first overtime.

Game 4 goes Tuesday night in Canmore. Live coverage begins at 6:45 pm on Real Country 105.7.
