The Town of Taber is working on completing a new Recreation Master Plan.
“The Recreation Master Plan was approved in the 2019 budget process,” Meghan Brennan, Communications and Projects Coordinator for the Town of Taber, said. “We have some aging facilities., so a Recreation Master Plan gives the Town an opportunity to do a full assessment of Taber’s needs and will assist in future planning and budgeting.”
Brennan says that the Town is currently working with a consultant, RC Strategies, to do the plan and that RC Strategies is engaging the community through a survey and meetings with staff and user groups to get input on the needs and wants of the community regarding recreation facilities and programs. RC Strategies, Brennan says, will use this information along with previous studies and planning documents to create a Recreation Master Plan to guide the Town of Taber.
“I think that a Recreation Master Plan is a great tool. Investing resources into this document will be beneficial to the community,” Brennan says.
The survey, Brennan says, will be sent out to each household within the town and will be open until June 28, 2019. Brennan says that RC Strategies is also meeting with a variety of user groups and community groups in Taber to provide input and there will be a group survey sent out to other groups to provide input. Those who complete the survey will be entered into a draw to win a five-use family pass for the Aquafun Centre.

“We are very excited about the Recreation Master Plan and hope that people will take the time to complete the survey,” Brennan says. “Since residents are being given the opportunity to provide input, they will have an influence regarding future planning. We want to hear what the wants and needs of the community are.”
