Swift Current
Swift Current native Nancy Harvey will be joining an elite group of golfers as she gets inducted into the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame. Now, Swift Current Mayor Jerrod Schafer announced Sept. 18 will be Nancy Harvey Day in Swift Current.

The Hall of Fame has been established to recognize the achievements of players and builders of golf in Saskatchewan and Harvey will be inducted on September 18th at the Willows Golf and Country Club in Saskatoon.

Schafer  stated “it is not often that one of our own athletes receives such a high degree of recognition for their achievements in a sport. Nancy is a trailblazer and has had a wonderful career in golf.  We are all proud that she began her pursuit here in the City of Swift Current.”

Nancy Harvey’s LPGA career spanned nearly two decades with career winnings of approximately $800,000.

“Nancy has had a successful career in golf and has always made the time to return to Swift Current where she obviously has many fans and friends. This year will be the 5th annual Battle of the Sports Charity Golf Classic presented by the Nancy Harvey - Marc Habscheid Foundation and Subway with proceeds going to many important local organizations. To thank Nancy for representing Swift Current so well on the LPGA, for her continued involvement in the Charity Classic and to congratulate her for being inducted into the Saskatchewan Golf Hall of Fame, I am happy to proclaim August 6th as Nancy Harvey Day in Swift Current. ”

A celebration in Nancy’s name will also take place on August 6th at the Charity Golf Classic being held at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club.
