| RCMP make major marijuana bust in Swift Current |

Swift Current Swift Current Regional Traffic Services Unit stopped an eastbound vehicle on Highway #1, 4 km west of Swift Current on the Feb. 6 at approximately 8 p.m. for a speeding violation. The RCMP seized in excess of 600 lbs of Cannabis Marjjuana as well in excess of $5,000 Canadian currency. The driver was arrested and remanded to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court for Monday, February 8, 2010. Charged is Claude Fournier, 48 from Toronto, with Possession for the purpose of trafficking Section 5(3)(a) CDSA and Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5,000 contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code. Fournier was released with a court date set for March 24, 2010 in Swift Current. The RCMP continue to ensure safe homes and communities in partnership with the Provincial Government due to their ongoing commitment to building resources of the RCMP within Saskatchewan. |
