Swift Current David Sheperd and Travis Prince started the national Pink Shirt Campaign after a Grade 9 boy in their school in Nova Scotia wore a pink shirt to school and was bullied for it. These student leaders stood up to the bully by wearing pink shirts to school the next day. Today people across the nation are wearing pink shirts to stop bullying. The SCCHS peer support group sold a locally designed pink shirt to our school body and sponsors. Peer support is encouraging all staff, students and sponsors wore their pink shirts on April 14. The Peer Support group would like to sincerely thank the Swift Current Mall and Stitch Here Custom Embroidery for their generous donation of the pink shirts and silk screening. They acknowledged other sponsors that support this event: Southwest TV News, Ghost Security, Prairie Post, Sign Here Signs and Printing, Swift Current and District Drug Task Force and Golden West Radio. |
