The bail hearings or decisions for three accused drug traffickers were scheduled for court Wednesday, April 14, morning.


Two men, not in connection with each other, had representation before the court and were granted release from custody upon payment of "significant" cash bail.


The third man, Brock Ernest Palfrey, a 23-year-old male from Vernon, B.C. made his first appearance in Swift Current provincial court Wednesday, April 14 and had his bail hearing adjourned until April 21. According to RCMP Palfrey was arrested when leaving his residence in Vernon. Simultaneous to the arrest of Palfrey, three search warrants were executed at three locations in the Vernon BC area, according to information provided by the RCMP.


The searches resulted in the seizure of three firearms (long guns), a large amount of cash, hand-held electronic devices and computers.


Palfrey has appeared before a Justice of Peace in Vernon, British Columbia April 7th and was remanded in custody for transport to Swift Current.


• Troy Swanson, 23, also of Vernon, has been in police custody since March 26, after he was arrested for allegedly having more than 150 kilograms of cocaine in his possession. Swanson is now facing charges of conspiracy to traffic cocaine and trafficking cocaine.


The federal crown prosecutor and Swanson's defence presented their bail hearing submissions.


The case is now adjourned until June 2 for election. Crown indicated there’s significant volume of disclosure to be provided.

A publication ban has been issued on the information presented within the hearing.


He was granted bail ($75,000) with a list of conditions, one of which he has two days to leave Swift Current as well as seek employment, education and reside in Vernon, BC.

•Troy William Hayes, 41, from Springhill, Nova Scotia first appeared in Swift Current provincial court the morning of Easter Monday when his case adjourned to allow for a show-cause hearing. He was granted release from custody provided he can produce $30,000 cash bail.


41-year-old Troy W. Hayes of Springhill Nova Scotia has been charged with drug traffickingHe was reportedly stopped while going east bound on the TransCanada highway for a traffic investigation.


According to RCMP a subsequent investigation lead to a search of the vehicle, which resulted in a large quantity of illegal drugs being located. Allegedly, police seized approximately 50,000 tablets of suspected Ecstasy and 7 kilos of suspected cocaine.


Other conditions of his release on bail include living at an Alberta residence and not travelling beyond 70 km of the residence unless to come to court. He must also report to the police at least once per week and not possess more than $500 cash at any time, amongst other conditions.
