The sentencing of a young man charged with dangerous driving causing death in relation to a highway accident that left three teenage girls dead more than a year ago has been adjourned.


The man, a youth at the time of the incident, is being sentenced under the youth criminal justice act and therefore can not be identified.He had previously pleaded guilty to the charges.


In a full court room on Monday afternoon — approximately 75 people in attendance — the mother of two of the girls read victim impact statements to the court. Three more were read by the crown.


The judge has reserved his sentencing decision until May 3, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. At that point he will deliver a written decision.


The crash occurred on Highway 13 near Kincaid. At about 10 p.m. Saturday, March 28, Three girls died after being hit at highway speeds by the accused's truck.
