Sabine Zocher Swift Current Tickets are now on sale for the Swift Current Little Theatre's spring production.
This year not only means a different venue for the crew, it is also an opportunity to feature local talent in a special way.
'The Day Rhubarb Fell From The Sky' is the Theatre's first full length play written by a member.
"It is great for Wendy (Lockman) who wrote the play because she gets to see all her characters come to life", says Rachel Wormsbecher, another member of the club.
"It is more rewarding to do a script that was written by someone in the club.” She added, it is also a “nice challenge.”
The Little Theatre has produced plays by local members before, but not a full length production. Of note, Ken Johnson's one act plays have been featured in the past.
"(It is) about people falling in love and breaking up, meeting the right person and friendship," said Wormsbecher describing the romantic comedy. The venue of the play has been changed to the Lyric Theatre due to renovations at the college, which means minor changes for the crew.
"We can't sell as many tickets and our set is pretty simple because it has to be moved so we can't really build a big elaborate set.
“But we are still rehearsing at the regular spot and I think it will work out okay", says Wormsbecher. Tickets are now available at the Pharmasave in Swift Current.
The spring production opens with a dessert theatre on April 16, followed by a pub night on April 17. The regular performance is on stage on April 22. There are two more pub nights on April 23 and April 24.
Prices for tickets start at $8 for non-reserved seats and $10 for reserved seats at the normal performance. Tickets for the pub nights and the dessert theatre are available for $15 for non-reserved and $18 for reserved
