The Living Sky Casino first annual roundance and powwow was held in Swift Current the weekend of February 12 to 14. A handful of dancers and singers travelled from distances as far away as Arizona and New Mexico to participate in the powwow and compete for approximately $75,000 prize money throughout the weekend. Plans are already underway to organize the next powwow in February 2011. Organizers believe the event will only continue to grow. Approximately 350 dancers and 17 drum groups, with 10 drummers per group, registered for the the inaugural event. An estimated 1,000 people per day went through doors of Kinetic Exhibition Park Stockade Building to watch the powwow.
