At the same location as the Alberta Premier’s Cabinet Tour luncheon in Lethbridge today and just prior to that luncheon, representatives of more than two-dozen businesses ranging from a national retailer and local businesses in the outdoor recreation and tourism sector to photographers and a nursery specializing in native plants held a press conference expressing concern about logging in the Castle area west of Pincher Creek.

The grassfire that raged northwest of Fort Macleod Wednesday afternoon appeared to be under control by evening after threatening homes and property for five hours.

Volker Stevin with the assistance of Fort Macleod RCMP and Claresholm RCMP are redirecting traffic on Highway 2 at Highway 519.  Northbound traffic is currently stopped and Southbound traffic is being rerouted to Highway 519.
