Swift Current Fencing Club hosts 2017 Chinook Open, Feb. 4-5, 2017

Fencers from across Saskatchewan were clashing blades at the 2017 Chinook Open in Swift Current, Feb. 4-5. The Swift Current Fencing Club hosted the two-day event at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. Fencers in the Open Sabre events at the 2017 Chinook Open had an opportunity to experience the challenge of fencing in a wheelchair, which requires excellent eye-hand coordination and strong core muscles.  Eight clubs competed in the tournament and Swift Current fencers received three gold, one silver and five bronze medals.Below are the results for the Swift Current Fencing Club:

Under 13 Foil – 1st Ian Lacasse, 2nd Dylan Lacasse, 3rd Carianne Hunter and Lesley Levorson-Wong; Cadet (under 17) Foil – 3rd Colt Cornelson, 6th Ian Lacasse, 7th Lesley Levorson-Wong, 8th Rhett Oakman; Cadet (under 17) Épée – 3rd Rhett Oakman; Junior (under 20) Foil – 1st Cole Anderson, 5th Colt Cornelson, 8th Courtlyn Hope; Senior (Open) Foil – 1st Cole Anderson, 3rd Lisa Hagen; Senior Épée – 11th Lisa Hagen.
