Chinook football is in full force on local gridirons

Football season has started for the southwest teams. Scores from last week:

Moose Jaw Peacock 46 at Swift Current Colts 0; Maple Creek 0 at Shaunavon 47.
The Gull Lake Lion’s football schedule has changed due to Wilkie withdrawing from the league. Gull Lake’s first game will be Friday, September 11 when they host Eatonia. 
Upcoming football games:
Friday, September 11: Shaunavon at Lumsden; Eatonia at Gull Lake.
Saturday, Sept. 12: Swift Current at Yorkton.
Thursday, Sept. 17: Moose Jaw Central at Swift Current (Thursday night under the lights).
Friday, Sept. 18: Maple Creek at Fort Qu’Appelle
Saturday, Sept. 19: Plenty at Gull Lake.
The Swift Current Ardens will start the defense of their Moose Jaw Soccer league title on Sept. 12 when they travel to Moose Jaw to play a doubleheader against Vanier and Weyburn. The Ardens’ first home game is Sept. 15 when they host Moose Jaw Peacock.
Our senior volleyball leagues will start in the middle of September. On the girls’ side we have seven teams participating: Frontier, Vanguard, Eastend, Hazlet/Cabri, Herbert, Shaunavon and Gull Lake. Girls will play on Tuesday nights starting Sept. 15.  On the boys’ side we have five teams: Ponteix, Frontier, Shaunavon, Vanguard and Herbert. 
The boys will play Wednesday night starting Sept 16.
Good luck to our golfers who will take part in the SWAC championships in Maple Creek on Sept 14.
