The Swift Current Ardens soccer team travelled to Saskatoon on Oct. 24-25 for the SHSAA provincial championships in the 3A girls’ category. 

 
In their first game on Friday, the Ardens came up against a very tough team from Prince Albert Carlton and dropped a 1-0 decision.
This dropped them to the consolation side where they rebounded Friday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Regina O’Neill. Jade Addai scored all three goals for the Ardens.
This put them in the consolation final on Saturday morning.  The Ardens posted a 2-0 win over Saskatoon Evan Hardy. Scoring for the Ardens were Brittany Lamontagne and Jade Addai. The shutout was preserved by Cassandra Furey-Cameron.
The Ardens had an excellent record over the season 17-2-1.
Congrats to the Ardens and their coaches Dale Perry, Steven Mah and manager Ruth Weiner.
The final league game in the nine-man schedule was played Oct. 24 when Shaunavon Shadows travelled to Maple Creek. The final score was 50-34 in favour of the Shadows. 
The Shadows were second in their league (5-1) and will now advance to the SHSAA provincial quarter finals. They will travel to Kindersley to take on the Cobras on Nov. 1.
In six-man action, the Gull Lake Lions hosted their league playoff where they defeated Caronport 85-27. They will also advance to the provincial quarter final ranked fourth. They will host the Number 5 seed — Kerrobert — on Nov. 1. Good luck to the Shadows and Lions!
The SWAC senior volleyball league championships were held in Herbert Oct. 28 for the girls and Oct. 29 for the boys. Results were not available as of press time.
The senior volleyball teams will also start SHSAA volleyball playoffs. The first weekend of competition will be Nov. 8 when the girls start conference play.
Hosting is at three different locations. In the 1A category,  Ponteix girls will host Cabri, Eastend, Frontier, Hazlet and Vanguard. Games will start at
10 a.m. 
In the 2A category, Fox Valley girls will host Herbert, Leader and Beechy. Games will start at
10 a.m. 
In the 4A girls’ category, Maple Creek will host Kindersley, Outlook and Rosetown with a 10 a.m. start time.
Gull Lake and Shaunavon girls will play in the 3A category on the road at Assiniboia.
Boys’ teams will not see action in SHSAA playoffs until the Nov. 15 weekend.
Junior volleyball playoffs will also start soon.
Dates and teams involved are as follows:
• Rolling Hills A girls subsection — at Swift Current Comp on Oct. 29. Schools involved are
Swift Current Comp Grade 9, Gull Lake, Herbert and Waldeck. One team advances to districts.
• Rolling Hills B girls subsection — at Wymark on Oct. 28-29. Schools involved are O.M. Irwin, Wymark, Hodgeville, Ponteix and Vanguard. One team advances to districts.
• Rolling Hills B boys subsection — at Ponteix on Oct. 29. Schools involved are O.M. Irwin, Wymark, Hodgeville, Ponteix and Vanguard. One team advances to districts.
