• Sometimes a win is just a win, but don’t tell that to the short-handed Swift Current K Motel Hurricanes Midget Hockey team as they won their home opener in a gutsy 2-1 effort.

 

As of Oct. 20, they are in third with a 2-1-1 record in the 14-team South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.
• Some of Swift Current Broncos of yesterday will be back on Credit Union iplex ice Nov. 15 for a special alumni game. Calgary Flames Alumni will visit Swift Current to clash with Bronco alums in a 2 p.m. game presented by Crop Production Services. Tickets on sale Oct. 27 for Bronco season ticket holders. They will have until 5 p.m. Oct. 30 to claim. Tickets for the public go on sale Oct. 31. 
• This past weekend the Great Plains College SunDogs volleyball teams travelled to Osler and here are the results: Friday (Oct. 17) men vs. Woodland won in two sets; men vs. Bethany won in two; Saturday men vs. Palliser won in two; men vs. Kelsey lost in three. Saturday women vs. Woodland lost in two; women vs. Kelsey lost in two.
