Novotny signs with expansion KHL team

Graduated Swift Current Bronco forward Stepan Novotny has signed a try- out contract with HC Lev Poprad of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). 

The six-foot-two, 198-pound product of Prague, Czech Republic wrapped up his 2010-11 WHL campaign, scoring a career-high 22 goals and 18 assists in 58 games played. 

Novotny spent the duration of his Western Hockey League career playing between the Broncos and Kelowna Rockets, where he tallied 137 points in 189 regular season games. He represented the Czech Republic at both the 2007 and  2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championships as well as the 2009 and 2010 IIHF World Under-20  Championships.   

The newly founded HC Lev Poprad is based out of Poprad, Slovakia and will start its first season with the KHL this coming September.
