Indians' batters find a gold mine with Prospects' pitching Sunday

Well at least one Saskatchewan team did well versus Edmonton.


The Swift Current Indians blasted the hometown Edmonton Prospects 15-0 in the second straight win in the City of champions July 3.


The Indians outhit Edmonton 17-3 with three of them enjoying 3 RBI-nights.


DH Parris Austin went 4 for 6, 3 RBIs and scored twice. SS J Thompson went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and infielder Relly Mercurio went 2 for 5 and batted in three and scored once.


Mercurio, a 6"5', 230 lbw 1B/3B joined the Indians in Saskatoon June 30. So far, he's batting .333.


It was an ugly game with seven errors in total with Edmonton making four of them.

Lost in the hitting barrage was Dan Rogers (2-2) pitching gem It was a complete game, three-hit shutout and with the performance, Rogers lowered his ERA to 2.87. He also had 7 strikeouts and walked two.

Indians are at home Monday to Moose Jaw.
