Shaunavon will be the host for two Western Hockey League exhibition games, according to the pre-season schedule that was released today.

To continue the celebration of the opening of the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre — which is opening July 15-16 — the community will host a pre-season game between Medicine Hat and Regina Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. and the Prince Albert Raiders and Swift Current Broncos Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

The first game will give Shaunavon residents the opportunity to cheer on a hometown player, Kale Kessy, who plays for Medicine Hat.

Swift Current will play six pre-season games in addition to the one in Shaunavon. The Broncos' exhibition schedule starts Aug. 30 when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors in a rookie scrimmage. They will then play Edmonton and Red Deer at a tournament in Edmonton on Sept. 4 and 5, respectively.

The Broncos will return home when they host Saskatoon Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. before visiting Regina Sept. 10 and Prince Albert Sept. 16. They close out their pre-season with the game in Shaunavon.
