Evan Richardson has decided to go to the NCAA.

According to a British Columbia Hockey League press release, the Swift Current Broncos’ first-round selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft has accepted a scholarship to attend Boston College in 2013.

The five-foot-eight, 170-pound forward native, who turns 17 at the end of May, played 55 games for the Victoria Grizzlies this past season. As one of the youngest players in the league, he put up 12 goals and 30 assists along with 21 penalty minutes.

Richardson, a Nanaimo, B.C. native scored two goals in two games playing as a 15-year-old with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the 2009-10 season.

In April, Richardson skated for a select team of BCHL players that went to Russia for an invitation and came away with a silver medal.
