The Great Plains College Sundogs Athletics Program has secured a spot in the top 200 entries for the Pepsi Canada Refresh Grant Program. Now they need your help to place in the top 2 of the $25,000.00 entries in order to secure a new locker room at their Swift Current campus. You can help by voting online daily between July 1st and August 31st, 2010. Voting can be found at www.refresheverything.ca/gpcsundogs.

“We were thrilled to be approved as one of the top 200 projects in the country and now we are hoping to engage the broader community network to place us in the top two and secure these resources for this important program,” stated Keleah Herron, Director of Development at Great Plains College, “The website is a little tricky but once an individual has sorted through the voting process once, it becomes much simpler.”

The Pepsi Refresh project aims to give out $1 million dollars to organizations and individuals throughout Canada who make a difference in their communities and regions. Categories in which projects are approved under are Neighborhoods, Education, Arts and Culture, Health, the Planet and Food and Shelter.

The Sundogs Athletics program has been operating for five seasons and allows athletes to continue their basketball and volleyball careers at a competitive post-secondary level out of the Swift Current Campus of Great Plains College. In fall 2009, the men’s Sundogs volleyball team brought home the team’s first provincial championship for the program.
