Swift Current Comp. wrestling team impresses at provincials

Swift Current Comp.'s Natasha Cleaveley is one of the best young wrestlers in the province.

Cleaveley and 12 other wrestlers from the Comp High School went to the University of Regina for the 2012 Provincial High School Wrestling Championships. Cleaveley earned a silver medal in the 90 kg female weight class.

Coach Allen Blanke issued a release talking about how well Cleaveley did.

"She put together an excellent tournament," explained Blanke. She was patient in her matches waiting for an opening against her opponent and then striking quickly. She displayed excellent technique in all her matches. Earning a medal at this top-caliber tournament is a big accomplishment."

In other action Taylor Grose place 5th in the 90 kg male, Ian Hymes was 6th in the 59 kg male, Cam Daviisson was 6th in the 98 kg male and Erin Hilts was 6th in the 90 kg female.

This was the last event for this school year and both Blanke and the other coach Dan Marchand were proud of their team and thankful for their and the parents' efforts.

According to wrestling team officials it was a first class event and the University of Regina has top-notch facilities.
