The Swift Current Broncos put themselves into a position to beat on of the best teams in the WHL Saturday night in Edmonton.

They just couldn't quite do it. The Broncos gave up the game winner with just under three minutes left in the third period losing 2-1.

Latvian left winger Kristians Pelss scored his 24th of the season to lift Edmonton to victory.

Jon Groenheyde, playing against his former team the Oil Kings put in another stellar performance (game's third star) as he faced 34 shots.

Not known for his offensive prowess, Broncos defenceman Richard Nedomlel scored his third goal in four games.

Broncos's next action is Tuesday when they host Kootenay. The Broncos are 24-35-2-6 and are tenth in the Eastern Conference.
