Last minute golfers are trying to squeeze in one more round of golf before mother nature brings weather too cold for golf garb.

Some are mourning the end of golf season, while others are out there facing the cold. The leaves that scatter the ground and some cool temperatures haven’t discouraged the hard-core golfers from working on their handicap and rest assured the tee sheet still has some names on it.
Elmwood Golf and Country Club will be the province’s sweet spot next year when it unveils their premiere golf course in the Southwest. Some believe the 4-year renovation project on the 18-hole golf course was a whiff but the management and board of directors pulled it off without a glitch and are excited for spring.
“We are very excited to be nearing the end of this massive renovation project and we thank the Elmwood Golf and Country Club Members for sticking with us during this difficult and frustrating time. The members will love the final golf course and future generations will be able to play a World Class Golf Course for many years to come,” stated by General Manager Sheldon Reinhart. “The numbers this year were fantastic. We had perfect weather. Next year, other than hole 16, we are ready to go. I’m very excited to have a full-length golf course next season. This was a seven-year plan and because the membership allowed us to condense it to four years, we are very excited to see it completed.”
Elmwood’s head professional Jeff Chambers believes some committed golfers will golf until the snow flies.
“Some people love golf passionately which is great,” said Chambers. “Some will ride it right out until it snows. We have a short season so when you can get out there and play, you get out there and play. There’s a few leaves on the ground but you still get to play.”
The golf season is ending but it doesn’t mean golf has to end. Elmwood Golf and Country Club boasts a brand-new hitting facility open to members and those individuals in search of some golf lessons. Chambers has a passion to grow golf and will be offering lessons throughout the winter months. His state of the art equipment, creates a learning experience for aspiring golfers like no other.
Elmwood Golf and Country Club is on the map and is looking forward to an exciting spring as another prestigious destination in southwest Saskatchewan.
