Basketball wraps up for Christmas break

The SWAC senior basketball season continued on Dec. 13 with two boys and two girls games.

The Maple Creek Rebelles played their first league game and got their first victory when they hosted the Gull Lake Lady Lions. The final score was 43-20.
Payton Bock and Makayla Scheller led the way for Maple Creek with nine points each while Cassie Janshad 10 points for the Lions followed by Laura Fiddler with six.
The Maple Creek Rebels hosted Frontier Raiders that night and cruised to a 100-42 win. Arthur Fritzke led the way for the Rebels with 25 points while Michael Mudingayi added 24.
The top scorers for the Raiders were Mark Cristoria with 12 and Nick Besoyo with nine points.
The other hosts on Dec. 13 were the Swift Current Jr Ardens and Colts. They hosted the Shaunavon Shadows and Silhouettes. 
In the boys’ game, the Shadows got their second win of the season with an 86-43 victory.
Nixen Voll led the way for the Shadows with 22 points followed closely by Austin Smith with 21. The Colts’ Einar DelaCruz had 13 points and Marcos Dominquez added 11.
The Silhouettes also got their second league victory as they defeated the Ardens 62-33.
Kerrigan Stevenson had 14 points while Hannah MacNeil had 12 for the Silhouettes.
Kyla Morante had nine for the Ardens and Vanessa Clothier had eight points.     
The last games before Christmas were Dec. 20 when Maple Creek senior boys and girls travelled to Shaunavon.
The Swift Current Jr. Ardens went to Herbert and the Jr. Colts journeyed to Frontier.
There was also a re-scheduled junior game, so Frontier junior boys and girls travelled to Maple Creek.
Scores from the games were not available as of press time.
Junior basketball scores from Dec. 15:
• Maple Creek junior boys 27 at Swift Current Comp Grade 9s 100;
• Maple Creek junior girls 30 at Swift Current Grade 9s 40;
• Frontier junior girls 6 at Herbert 65;
• Frontier junior boys 56 at Herbert 50;
• Shaunavon junior girls 30 at Gull Lake 33.
