Gold for 16U Swift Current volleyball team at provincials

The 16U men’s Jr. Sundogs brought home the gold at the Conexus Provincial Volleyball Championship in Saskatoon April 29-May 1. 


The tournament took place at the Henk Reyes Centre.
The SunDogs, coached by Jeff Jago and Tyler Dickie, completed the round robin undefeated and ranked No. 1 heading into the playoff round. The boys won RVC two straight sets in the quarter finals. The SunDogs concluded the tournament defeating the Jr. Huskies two straight sets (25-19, 25-17) to bring home provincial gold. The 16U team never lost a game during the whole 2016 season in a sanctioned tournament.
Next up is Nationals May Long Weekend in Calgary.
Girls 15U
Tiffany Powells 15U volleyball team finished in seventh place in Division 1 in the 15U Girls Provincial Playoffs.
There were 12 teams in Division one and 32 teams in Division 2.  There seemed to be long hard-fought battles all the way with a three-set victory against Weyburn VC Black, but a three set loss to Wakaw.
On April 30, it was three-set wins over the Regina Royal Rebels and Rose Valley VC, but then they lost to the Pronce Albert Toppers in their first playoff match April 30.  On May 1, they lost to Regina CVC, but ended the tournament strong with a victory over Wakaw.
Boys 15U
The 15USunDogs played at the 16U Championships April 29-May1 and finished with a 3-3 record before winning the match for 7th place over the Regina Goats.
