It has become a fixture in the Swift Current calendar, the Pharmasave Radiothon happens at the end of September. Well, until now.

This year, we will be doing our two-day live broadcast on CKSW 570 from the atrium of the Cypress Regional Hospital on November 2nd and 3rd. We hope you join us to raise funds to help with our Maternity equipment campaign.
The Maternity equipment campaign is something that will be the major push for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation for the next little while. The maternity equipment currently in use in the Cypress Regional Hospital is in need of replacement and upgrade.
In particular, this campaign is looking to replace the three birthing beds currently in use, as well as add in an additional two Panda Warmers. On average there are about 400 babies born every year at the hospital, we believe we need to do all we can to ensure that they have the best start possible in life!
So why these pieces of equipment? Well, the birthing beds are at least 10 years old and they are worn out. The mattresses are cracked and less supportive and difficult to sanitize, the foam on the handrails is long gone, even the brakes on the beds don’t work properly. In short, it is time for new beds, and at $23,000 per bed, we will need to raise $69,000 to replace them.
The Panda Warmer is the benchmark piece of equipment for newborn care. Not only does it weigh the baby and it keeps him or her at the optimal temperature, but it also comes with everything that may be needed to help the baby if something happens, including full resuscitation. In short, it not only keeps healthy babies healthy, it also provides peace of mind for new parents and caregivers, that no matter what situation may arise, they are prepared to handle it.
Giving each birth the best possible care. The Panda warmers are $39,000 each and we intend to raise funds to provide two more of these units to the Cypress Regional Hospital, in addition to the one they already have, so that there is a panda warmer for each of the birthing suites.
In total, the Radiothon goal for this year will be to completely meet the needs of the Maternity campaign, which ads up to $147,000. This campaign is ongoing through the fall, and donations can be made at any time by visiting the Foundation office or even calling us at 306-778-3314. We feel that this is a very important purchase for the Cypress Regional Hospital and for the young families in the southwest. Please consider helping us and make a donation.
