Broncos make four significant moves prior to Hockey Day weekend

The Swift Current Broncos have completed another trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Landon Bow is heading to The Emerald City in exchange for 20 year old forward Jamal Watson, 18 year old goaltender Taz Burman and a conditional 2nd round WHL Bantam Draft pick.

Bow has played 137 games as a Bronco over 4 seasons sporting a .908 save percentage and a 3.12 goals against average. This year Bow has appeared in 30 games, with a 3.09 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.  Last year, Bow broke Bronco records for single season saves with 1,925 and single season shut outs with 7.
20 year old Calgary native Jamal Watson comes to Swift Current after stints in Lethbridge and Seattle. Watson has 6 goals, 8 assists and 25 penalty minutes in 29 games this season with the T-Birds. In his career he has 75 goals, 87 assists and 194 penalty minutes in 299 games.
1997 born goalie Taz Burman has appeared in 16 games for Seattle this year. He has a .877 save percentage and a 3.20 goals against average. Coincidentally, Seattle acquired Burman in an off-season deal with Red Deer for current Bronco Lane Pederson.
The Broncos next home game is this Sunday vs. The Moose Jaw Warriors with a 2pm face-off. The game will be televised on Rogers Sportsnet and will feature a pre-game ceremony hosted by Ron MacLean honouring Sheldon Kennedy.
This Broncos transaction preceeded a move Jan. 4 when they traded 19 year old forward Cavin Leth to the Seattle Thunderbirds. Swift Current receives 17 year old defenceman Sahvan Khaira.
Leth was acquired by Swift Current in the 2nd round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6’ 180 pound native of Taber, Alberta has 6 goals and 7 assists this season in 39 games. Leth played 159 games as a Bronco scoring 15 goals and adding 15 assists and 127 penalty minutes.
Sahvan Khaira is a 17 year old defenceman from Surrey, BC. In 77 games over 2 seasons, Khaira has 1 goal, 7 assists and 72 penlaty minutes. Khaira is 6’3.5 and 218 pounds. Khaira was selected in the 9th round of the 2013 WHL bantam draft. 
This trade followed up a big trade prior to the new year.
Jake Debrusk was traded to the Red Deer Rebels. In return, the Broncos acquire 1997 born forward Lane Pederson, Red Deer’s 2017 1st round WHL bantam draft pick and the Rebel’s 2016 3rd round pick.
DeBrusk led the Broncos goal scoring last season with 42. After being selected in the 7th round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft by Swift Current, DeBrusk played 168 games as a Bronco over three seasons. DeBrusk scored 66 regular season goals, adding 80 assists for 146 points.
Lane Pederson is a native of Saskatoon. Pederson was a 5th round selection of the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. In 100 WHL games with Seattle and Red Deer, Pederson has 14 goals, 27 assists and 41 points. In 35 games played this season, Pederson has 6 goals, 15 assists and 19 penalty minutes. Pederson was traded to Red Deer from the Seattle prior to this season.
The Broncos had earlier made a couple of moves involving Seattle.
The Broncos traded the rights to Andreas Schumacher to Seattle.
Schumacher was selected 96th overall in the 2014 CHL Import Draft by Swift Current. The 6’5, 199 pound 1996 born forward had 10 goals and 10 assists in 82 games as a Bronco.
The next day the Broncosclaimed 1997-born Swedish forward Gustav Olhaver off waivers. Olhaver was released by Seattle after acquiring the rights to import forward Schumacher.
Olhaver, a 6’7, 220 pound left wing from Angelholm, Sweden was a 7th round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche in 2015. Olhaver has 2 goals and 3 assists in 31 games with Seattle this season.
