Honka invited to Finnish World Junior Selection Camp

Swift Current Broncos defenceman Julius Honka has been invited to Team Finland’s World Junior selection camp for the upcoming 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden.

 

Honka ranks 2nd amongst all defenceman and rookies in the WHL in scoring with 34 points (11G,23A) in 32 games played.  The 5’11”, 175-pound product of Jyvaskyla, Finland was selected by the Broncos in the first round, 34th overall, of the 2013 CHL Import Draft.

 

Honka was recently ranked as an “A” list player by NHL Central Scouting in their “Preliminary Players to Watch” list.  

 

On the international level, Honka represented Finland at the 2013 IIHF Under-18 World Hockey Championship where he led all defencemen on the team in scoring, recording four points (1-3-4) in seven games played to secure bronze.

 

The 2014 World Junior Championship will run from December 26th to January 5th, 2014.  Finland will open preliminary-round play against Norway on December 27th.
