And then there were two more...

Swift Current Broncos General Manager & Head Coach, Mark Lamb, announced that the club has selected Finnish defenceman, Julius Honka, 32nd overall and Belarusian forward, Igor Leonenko, 73rd overall in the 2013 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Honka, the 5’10”, 167-pound, 1995-born native of Jyvaskyla, Finland tallied 15 points (4-11-15) and 47 penalty minutes in 42 games played last season with JYP of Jr. A SM-liiga.  He also appeared in four playoff games where he recorded 25 penalty minutes.

On the international level, Honka most recently represented Finland at the 2013 IIHF Under-18 World Hockey Championship where he led all defencemen on the team in scoring, recording four points (1-3-4) in seven games played to secure bronze.

He is a dynamic offensive-minded, high talented defenceman,” says General Manager & Head Coach, Mark Lamb

Leonenko, the 6’2”, 214-pound, 1995-born native of Belarus recorded 26 points (17-9-26) and 37 penalty minutes in 21 games played with the San Jose Jr. Sharks of the NAPHL last season.  He also made five playoff appearances with the club, where he tallied 13 points (10-3-13) and 16 penalty minutes.

He isn’t very well-known,” says General Manager & Head Coach, Mark Lamb.  “He played in San Jose last season.  He’s a big guy, with a lot of skill.”
