The Swift Current Broncos announced Aug. 30 the team has signed 17-year-old defenceman Christian Riemer to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

“We are very pleased with what we saw out of Christian during training camp,” said Director of Player Personnel Manny Viveiros. “He has really matured, gotten stronger and he has very good shot at making our hockey club. We watched his development last year and he has certainly improved in many areas very quickly. We are happy to have him.”
A 17-year old product of Regina, Sask., Riemer was listed by the Broncos last year and participated in 2017 training camp, impressing coaching staff with a strong showing.
Riemer skated for the Swift Current Legionnaires last season in the SMHL and racked up 20 points (9g-11a) in 40 games. He recently made his Broncos debut in the Aug. 29 rookie game against the Moose Jaw Warriors, helping guide Swift Current to a 4-0 shutout win.
Season tickets for the 2017-18 campaign are on sale.
