Ralston students get a taste of Fiji

Students at Ralston School had the opportunity to learn more about the culture in Fiji thanks to some fellow students, their parents and BATUS soldiers of Fijian descent. They helped celebrate Fiji’s independence day on Oct. 10.

PRSD school enrolment continues to decline

The decline in the number of students enrolling in Prairie Rose Regional Division’s schools continues this year. Board trustees at the Oct. 8 regular meeting heard there are 65 fewer students enrolled in the schools this school year compared to last school year.

A special ceremony took place in an open field about 27 kilometres northeast of Lomond and just west of Bow City on Highway 539 on Oct. 1.

Overall, officials with Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) are pleased with the results of their students diploma exams and Achievement tests written the past school year.

Reading program popular at Parkside School

A student enters Redcliff’s Parkside School’s library and immediately heads to the librarian’s desk.

Rolling Hills used to be the largest hamlet in the County of Newell, that is until Tilley came into the fold recently. Known for its recreational facilities, Rolling Hills offers a place for people to golf on a picturesque nine-hole course during the warmer months and then enjoy skating and hockey in the arena during the winter.

The Venturers Society working in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park Alberta has been recognized by Alberta Parks.

Retiring PRSD trustees will miss ‘the kids’

There were some tears shed by all three women on Oct. 8 who said their goodbyes to their roles as trustees for Prairie Rose School Division at their last regular meeting before the election.

After about a month of closure, the Tilley and District Public Library is now open again and ready to serve the residents of the newly-minted hamlet.

Newell tour about exploring communities
