Grade 8 students from Schuler school hope southeast Alberta residents will get behind them in their push to win Canada’s Coolest School Trip contest sponsored by Parks Canada.

Residents of Brooks will have a chance to have their input into a newly-written land-use bylaw starting in March. The current land-use bylaw was written in 2003, although there have been some amendments in the past 10 years, says Rebecca Taylor, planning and development supervisor with the City of Brooks.

The Alberta government says it is lending its voice to representing producer organizations calling for greater rail accountability so backlogged grain can be shipped.

Eagle Butte High School (EBHS) is offering an options course for students with an interest in robotics and hovercrafts.

PRSD launches unique new program in Bow Island

A new alternative education program has been launched in Bow Island in partnership with Alberta Works. Board trustees with Prairie Rose School Division heard more about the unique program in southern Alberta at the Feb. 11 regular meeting.

Input sought about policing in Brooks and area

Residents of the City of Brooks and County of Newell will have a chance to learn more about policing in their communities as well as have input into the goals and priorities for the next year.

Parents of children in Grasslands Public Schools will have a little more money in their wallets in September when they don’t have to pay basic textbook/instructional materials fees.

Wildlife, wheat and weeds were all up for discussion for attendees of the 2014 Provincial Agricultural Service Board (ASB) conference in Medicine Hat at the end of January.
