For more than 20 years the Oyen Otters Swim Club has been helping youth stay active, improve their swim skills and excel competitively if they so choose.

The pages on the calendar seem to be flying by faster and faster each year. It’s already almost July, half the year is over, and milestones have been marked this past week with the final days of secondary school completed, the arrival of Frontier Days in Swift Current — a sure mark of summer — and now Canada Day soon to be come and gone just one short day from the writing of this editorial.

Hanna’s Jesse Williams is looking forward to an exciting summer exploring all of the history and hidden gems her area has to offer as one of 17 ambassadors for the Canadian Badlands Tourism association.

Although residents of Oyen and area celebrated Canada Day on July 1 as usual, there will be an extra special week of activities in the community to commemorate the country’s 150th anniversary.

After a three-year hiatus the wait is over for fans of The Angelic Letters series with a release of the sixth installment earlier this spring and news that the series will now be seven books.

The halls of Schuler School were packed June 24 in the afternoon as former students and staff and community members gathered to take one last look at the current building which is set for demolition in a few months.

For the second year in a row, a Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) school earned top prize in the Healthy School Cup challenge.

The timeline is unknown for a provincial inspection of the operations of the Village of Warner, since the Request For Proposals (RFP) for that work has closed with no tender submissions.

A Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) student will  take a trip of a lifetime after being chosen one of 14 students to visit key First and Second World Wars historic sites throughout Europe.

Registration is underway for the 14th annual Southern Alberta Grazing School for Women. As in past years, organizers are expecting the 40 spots to fill up quickly.
