The 2015-16 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) champion Brooks Bandits have secured the commitment of 1998-born defenceman Dennis Cesana (North Providence, RI) for the 2016-17 season, the team announced today.

The Brooks Bandits will take on the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) champion West Kelowna Warriors in the 7:30 PM semi-final at the 2016 RBC Cup on Saturday, May 21st, it was announced by Hockey Canada Thursday night.

The Brooks Bandits (2-1) withstood a late surge by the RBC Cup host Lloydminster Bobcats (1-2) on Tuesday night, as a 4-1 third period lead gave way to a 4-3 nailbiting win, earning Brooks a spot in Saturday’s RBC Cup semifinal round with one game left for the team to play in the round robin stage.

The Brooks Bandits (1-1) recorded their first win of the 2016 RBC Cup, winning their third meeting of this season with the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) champion West Kelowna Warriors (1-1) by a 5-1 score on Sunday night.

Brooks Bandits defenceman Cale Makar (Calgary, AB) has been named the 2015-16 Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Rookie of the Year, it was announced today, as the top first-year player among all 126 teams at the Canadian Junior A level.

The Brooks Bandits earned a spot in the 2016 RBC Cup national championship tournament on Sunday afternoon, downing the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champion Portage Terriers 2-1 in the runner-up game of the Western Canada Cup.

The Brooks Bandits (4-0) became the first team in the history of the Western Canada Cup to start with an undefeated round robin record, downing the host Estevan Bruins (0-4) by a 6-4 final score on Thursday night at Affinity Place.
