Join the City of Brooks and the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 12-5 p.m. in the Centennial Regional Arena as they showcase and offer sledge hockey demos.

There will be showcase games between the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association, Brooks Minor Hockey Association and Medicine Hat Hockey Association.
A free demo will also take place from 1:45-2:45 p.m. for all ages to try sledge hockey. It is recommended those people wanting to try it out bring a helmet along.
Sledge hockey is open to people of all ages and genders. It requires a lot of upper body strength and balance to move around on the ice, and is a Paralympic sport played at all levels around the world. The game incorporates some additional technologies to allow for the greatest amount of participation.
According to the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association, sledge hockey is an innovative team sport that incorporates the same rules and strategies as stand up ice hockey.
Players sit on specially designed sleds with skate blades under the seat and use two sticks, not only to pass, stick handle and shoot the puck, but also to propel and maneuver their sleds.
Everyone is welcome to attend the showcase, participate in the demos and learn more about Sledge Hockey.
