It was day two of the 2014 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship hosted by Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers.

The first match of the day was between Mount Saint Vincent (MSVU) Mystics from Halifax, Nova Scotia and the Seneca College Sting from Toronto, Ontario. The brisk Alberta wind played a huge factor, making the first half very one-sided with Seneca scoring two goals. Scorers included Emma Gattoni (#20) and Cassandra Nicolodi (#11).
In the second half, MSVU came back with a free kick by #2 Jessica Partridge. Assisted by the wind, the ball curled up into the top corner. However Seneca finished MSVU off when #20 Emma Gottoni riffled the ball into the top corner of the net on what some consider an unnecessary penalty shot. The final score was 3-1.
Game 6 started with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers taking on the Langara College Falcons. Medicine Hat was under pressure from the start, as they were battling not only a good team but the elements. Though they possessed the ball a lot, they were unable to defeat the Falcons. With an injury to goal keeper Taylor Cardinal, the Rattlers were disheartened and unable to get back into the game. They were defeated 3-0.
After these two lopsided games, the NAIT Ooks and Ahuntsic Indiens took to the field for a very evenly matched contest. For the first 45 minutes it was anyone’s game. Ahuntsic’s Kateri Rivard (#20) took a penalty shot which was blocked leaving NAIT’s Kelsey Mitchell (#13) the opportunity to score and finish the first half with 1 point. In the end Ahuntsic just couldn’t find a way past the Ooks and were defeated 2-0.
The final game was a scrap between the Cégep Garneau Élans and Vancouver Island University Mariners. In the last 15 minutes of the first half Garneau started to take control creating several chances with finally scoring a fantastic volley at the 37th minute by #6 Virginie Deschênes from outside of the box. In the 50th minute #12 Dominique Fortin helped the Élans take control of the game where they
quickly doubled their lead adding 2 more for a comfortable 4-0 win. Scorers included Cynthia Gaspar-Freire (#3) and then Claude Perreault (#9) in extra time.
