Bandits acquire defenceman Renda from Brockville for Wright, futures; sign one more

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1996-born defenceman Vincenzo Renda (Montreal, PQ) from the Brockville Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), the team announced Dec. 1.


In exchange, the Bandits sent 1996-born forward Austin Wright (Niagara Falls, ON) and future considerations to the Braves.

Renda, 20, scored 42 points (3 goals, 39 assists) in 60 games for the Braves last season, adding 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 8 playoff games. He was the 3rd-highest scoring defenceman in the entire CCHL.

This season, the 6’1”, 210lb defenceman has registered 7 assists in 10 games played for Brockville.

Prior to his Junior A career, Renda spent four years at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, where he scored 21 points (3 goals, 18 assists) in 29 games in his senior year in 2014-15.

Wright, 20, had recorded 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 14 games for the Bandits this season after scoring 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) in 52 games in his Junior A debut last year.
he Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have signed 1996-born defenceman Kord Pankewicz (Drayton Valley, AB), the team announced today.

Pankewicz, 20, most recently played for the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where last season he recorded 48 points (5 goals, 43 assists) in 71 games, ranking 17th among all WHL defencemen, and registering a +26 rating.

This season, Pankewicz scored 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) in 24 games for Lethbridge. In total, the 5’11”, 210lb defenceman dressed in 243 career WHL games for the Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge, recording 112 points (13 goals, 99 assists) and 232 penalty minutes, rating a +15 over his career.

“I am very pleased to finish my junior career in Brooks,” said Pankewicz. “I have heard a lot of good things about the organization and can’t wait to get started.”

Pankewicz is a graduate of the Leduc Oil Kings of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), where he helped lead his team to a Telus Cup appearance in 2012 in his final year of minor hockey.
