2011 Southern Alberta Summer Games begin Wednesday

The 2011 Southern Alberta Summer Games in Medicine Hat begin Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

For the last 41 years, the Southern Alberta Recreation Association has taken the Southern Alberta Summer Games to 18 different host communities across the lower region of our province. Today, 2,246 athletes, coaches and cultural participants embark on Medicine Hat to begin the 42nd annual Southern Alberta Summer Games.
Wednesday’s activities include a barbecue for participants at 6 p.m. at the Family Leisure Centre, Opening Ceremonies at 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Family Leisure Centre, and many activities throughout the day.

Mini Soccer - U8, 9 a.m., Gilwell Field (access from Southview Drive or Cuyler Road SE)

Mini Soccer - U10, 9 a.m., Connaught School (101 8 Street SW)

Slo-Pitch, 9 a.m., Moose Ball Complex (Gehring Road, near Highway #1)

Baseball - Minors, 10 a.m., Lions Park (5 Street SE)

Baseball - Bantams, 10 a.m., McCoy High/Jeffries Park (202 8 Street NE)

Photography, 10 a.m., Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre (401 First Street SE)

Barbecue, 6 p.m., Family Leisure Centre (2000 Division Avenue N)
