The Swift Current Broncos finished a three-in-three set this weekend with their first shootout victory of the year, edging the Red Deer Rebels 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at the Credit Union iplex.
 

The Brooks Bandits (33-3-4) completed a regular season series sweep of the host Canmore Eagles (22-15-5) on Saturday night, sneaking by their opponents by a 3-2 shootout score to make it a 6-0 record against Canmore for the 2016-17 AJHL season.

 The Brooks Bandits (31-3-4) scored a season-high eleven goals, as the top line of Nick Prkusic (Medicine Hat, AB), Oliver Chau (Oakville, ON), and Ty Mappin (Big Valley, AB) combined for 17 points, while affiliate forward Louis Jamernik (Calgary, AB) scored his first career goal with 1 second left in the game, in an 11-3 home win over the Olds Grizzlys at the Centennial Regional Arena on Wednesday night.

Broncos and Blades complete trade

The Swift Current Broncos have dealt 18-year old forward Cole Johnson to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a pair of future WHL Bantam Draft picks including a fifth-round selection in 2018 and a seventh-round pick in 2017.

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) will host their first Mental Health Night on Saturday, Jan. 21, the team announced Jan. 2.

Bandits to host Chad Johnson Night January 20th

One of the Brooks Bandits’ most well-remembered and accomplished alumni will return to Brooks on Friday, January 20th, the team announced Jan. 4, as the Bandits organization unveiled its upcoming Chad Johnson Night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Not one, not two, not three but four was the number of unanswered goals that the Swift Current Broncos put up to eliminate a three-goal deficit and beat the pesky Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-4 on Tuesday night at the Credit Union iplex.
