It was a good weekend for coaches Tiffany Powell (head coach) Berkley Petersen (assistant Coach) and their 16U girls’ volleyball team at the 16U Moose Jaw Element Tournament April 8-9.

The SunDogs junior volleyball teams have seen a lot of highways the last few weeks.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the third period, the Brooks Bandits scored five consecutive goals, downing the Okotoks Oilers 6-2 in Game 3 of the AJHL South Final and taking a 2 games to 1 lead in the best of seven series.

The Swift Current Broncos entered Saturday night with a 3-2 series cushion over the Moose Jaw Warriors and had a chance to win their first playoff round since 2008 but it wasn't meant to be as they were topped by a score of 3-2 at the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex on Saturday night.

The Brooks Bandits saw two one-goal leads slip away Saturday night, as two late third period penalties for alleged diving and net-dislodging led to an Okotoks power-play game-tying goal, sending Game 2 of the AJHL South Final to overtime where Jordan Xavier (Calgary, AB) scored on a rebound to give the Oilers the dramatic win.

The Swift Current Broncos came out flying early on and got three goals from Ryley Lindgren as they dismantled the Moose Jaw Warriors by a score of 5-2 to tie their best-of-seven series up 2-2.

The 16U, 15U and 14U Swift Current Sundogs volleyball girls teams were busy this weekend with two on the road and one hosting.
