Warriors blank Broncos in Swift Current

Another home loss for the Swift Current Broncos Tuesday night.

It is a an experience that most young hockey players can only dream about — to have a practice session with a WHL team. That dream became reality for the nine and 10-year-old boys and girls of the Eston Rambler Atoms hockey team on Jan. 15 when they had a skills and drills instructional session with the Swift Current Broncos.

The tragic bus crash that claimed the lives of four young Swift Current Broncos hockey players 25 years ago and the team’s dramatic Memorial Cup victory only two-and-a-half years later will be remembered in a soon-to-be published book.

Swift Current loses important citizen

The sound was loud and unmistakable, like a police siren in an old episode of The Flintstones. There it was, every time the Swift Current Indians scored a run at Mitchell Field. A spectacular diving catch or double play might set it off too.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame Executive is pleased to announce the first set of inductees into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. The inaugural group of inductees will include 17 individuals and five teams under five different categories. The group of inductees will be honoured at the first ever Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame banquet and dinner in Swift Current on July 28th, 2012.

Saskatchewan Curling Association Region 1 Playdowns were held at the Swift Current Curling Club this past weekend to determine the qualifiers to the SaskTel Southern Men’s Tankard to be held at the Swift Current Curling Club Jan.19-22.
