The Green Party of Saskatchewan (GPS) is asking the Wall Government to use precautionary principles on Hydraulic Fracturing or ‘Fracking’ now that Newfoundland and Labrador has banned the practice. The Saskatchewan Government should be extremely cautious.
If the Wall Government is for ‘Fracking’, then either Energy Minister Tim McMillan or Premier Brad Wall should be ready to compensate any landowner who loses their water supply or incurs other damages as a result of this activity.
The provincial government’s support for ‘Fracking’ will only impede Saskatchewan’s transition towards Green Energy.
The old ways of powering the economy are changing. We should step into the future, not stay trapped in the past.
Victor Lau, Leader of the Green Party of Sask., Regina
