(Re: Time for all of us to clean up messy lifestyles, thinking, column by Prairie Post reporter Matthew Liebenberg, page A11, Jan. 25 Prairie Post).

None of the three individuals who represent the city of Swift Current have shown any leadership in tackling the environmental challenges  of  our community. There is nothing in their agendas on this subject that got them elected.
Premier Brad Wall continues to “rag the puck” — his words — on the environment. It is a promise he made to Republicans when he first got elected.
MP David Anderson has never campaigned on anything other than the demise of the Wheat Board and now has a right-wing religious agenda on social issues. His literature never addresses the environmental issues of our community.
Swift Current mayor Jerrod Shaffer gets photographed planting a tree every year.
I challenge the three representatives of our community to show some real leadership in Swift Current on the environmental challenges we face as a community. Here is a starting point: I challenge you to work together to end the use of plastic bags in our community.
William Gibbs, Swift Current
