NDP’s tax plan hurts all Canadians

Gas prices are surging, but strangely the NDP’s Thomas Mulcair is touring the country promoting a carbon tax.

Although he calls it ‘cap and trade,’ it is in reality a carbon tax and will impact the cost of gasoline. Canadians already pay a high enough price; Mulcair’s plan will only make it more expensive.
If that is not enough, by his own admission, Mulcair’s $21-billion carbon tax is “regressive” and will raise the price of everything, including gas, groceries, and electricity.
Speaking to reporters after Question Period on Monday Sept. 17, Mulcair said: “…Look, the (carbon tax) is regressive, it affects everyone” and “it’s a regressive tax generally speaking.”
Our Government cut Canada’s biggest consumption tax, the GST, by two per cent, which the NDP opposed. The Harper government wants Canadians to have fairness at the pump and no carbon tax. By supporting a regressive consumption tax, Mulcair is putting the squeeze on all Canadians.
